These terms cover the Scrib app, this website, and any Scrib license you buy. "Scrib", "we", and "us" mean the developer of Scrib; "you" means the person using it. By installing Scrib, using this site, or buying a license, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Scrib.

1. The license

Scrib is licensed, not sold. When you buy a license, you may install and use Scrib on the number of computers your license covers (one or three), for yourself or your own work. You may:

• keep using the version you have for as long as you like;
• install every new version released within 1 year of your purchase;
• move your license to another computer by removing it from the old one in Scrib's settings.

Scrib confirms your license with our payment provider about once a week while you're online. A license that is refunded or cancelled stops working, and Scrib becomes read-only on that computer.

You may not:

• share, sell, rent, or publish your license key;
• use one key on more computers than it covers;
• remove or work around Scrib's licensing, or redistribute Scrib or modified copies of it.

2. Free trial and beta

Scrib can be tried free for 7 days. After the trial, or after a beta build's end date, Scrib becomes read-only until a license key is entered: your notes can still be opened, searched, copied, and exported. Beta builds are early versions provided for testing, may contain bugs, and stop allowing edits on their end date.

3. Buying Scrib

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our online reseller and Merchant of Record, which handles payment, tax, and invoicing. Lemon Squeezy's own terms apply to the purchase itself. Prices are shown before you pay and may change for future purchases. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

4. Your notes are yours

Everything you write in Scrib is stored on your computer and belongs to you. We don't receive, read, or claim any rights to your notes. How Scrib handles information is described in the privacy policy.

5. Keep your own backups

Scrib makes daily backups on your computer, but no software is perfect and computers fail. You are responsible for keeping copies of anything important — for example, by exporting your notes or backing up your computer.

6. Calculations

Scrib's calculations, conversions, and exchange rates are provided for convenience. Check any result that matters — for money, health, law, or safety — before relying on it.

7. No warranty

Scrib is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise that Scrib will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will never lose data.

8. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or revenue, arising from your use of Scrib or this site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your Scrib license, or $10 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

9. Updates and changes

We may update Scrib and these terms. If we change the terms in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Using Scrib after a change means you accept the new terms.

10. Ending the license

Your license ends automatically if you break these terms. You can stop using Scrib at any time; your notes stay on your computer and can be exported.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
